By Mark Hodgins

A man was rushed to a Halifax hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Kennetcook last Friday.

According to the RCMP, just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 5 two officers in separate cruisers were driving on Hwy. 354 when a car heading in the other direction crossed the centre line, nearly hitting one of the police cruisers.

The vehicle then went off the road and into a ditch.

The Mounties say a 38-year-old woman from Lower Sackville was not hurt in the crash, but a 41-year-old man from Noel had life-threatening injuries was “bleeding heavily”. Officers called for an ambulance and placed a tourniquet on him to stop the bleeding. The man was taken to hospital in Halifax.

The officers reportedly noted the man had been showing signs of impairment. An investigation is ongoing.
