Curbside giveaway happening this weekend in Halifax

By CityNews Halifax Staff

This weekend, Halifax residents will have a chance to free themselves of some clutter, or perhaps find new items of your own.

Curbside give away is going on through the municipality, an initiative that can reduce the amount of garbage ending up in the landfill.

Senior Communications Advisor with the municipality, Erin DiCarlo says that people are encouraged to mark items they are getting rid of with a sign that says free.

She says it's very important for treasure hunters to only take items that are marked as 'free'.

“Just only pick pick up the items that are marked free, and if you are putting items out, mark them as free” DiCarlo said.

DiCarlo says they're also asked to respect private property, obey traffic laws and watch out for children.

Even though rain is forecasted for Saturday, items can be placed outside.

For a full list of items that can and can't be placed outside, head to the Municipalities website.
