Diesel prices soar, gasoline also up on Friday in N.S.

Incredible increases to the price for fuel this week in Nova Scotia.

The UARB used its weekly adjustment to increase gas prices by 6.2 cents to 172.8.

That is still below a high earlier this month of $1.86.

But the big shock on Friday was on the diesel side. The provincial regulator introduced a 12.4 cent increase to the price for diesel overnight, bumping up prices to 205.6.

That is a 31.6 cent increase to the cost for diesel just in the past week. The UARB used the interrupter clause twice to send diesel prices soaring.

On Thursday the provincial government announced $13 million in support for vulnerable Nova Scotians amid the rising cost of fuel, also hinting at more supports coming in next week's budget.
