Dreaming of a…wet Christmas? Warm air expected to win out in Nova Scotia

By Alex Cooke

Meteorologists are tracking active weather patterns across the country to see if we'll get some snowfall over the holidays.

And while Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal can expect some snow on Christmas Day, we in Nova Scotia aren't so lucky.

Weather Network meteorologist Doug Gillham said there's a small chance we'll have a white Christmas, but a wet Christmas is more likely.

“At this point our expectation is that across most of Nova Scotia the warm air will win,” said Gillham. “So we change over to straight rain, and any snow and ice that we do get will melt.”

Gillham said they're still monitoring a system expected on Christmas Day, and if the track stays out to sea, then we might get a last minute coating of snow on Christmas Day – but it's not likely.

Gillham says we can expect some more wintry weather between boxing day and New Year, with highs of -8 and minus -9.
