Elsa to arrive in Maritimes Friday, bringing rain and wind to Halifax

In Halifax conditions aren't expected to be significant

Tropical storm Elsa will impact the Maritimes on Friday.

The storm is not expected to bring any damaging conditions to the region, with some gusty winds and heavy rain expected depending on where you are. The Canadian Hurricane Centre says the storm will transition to post-tropical before arriving in the Maritimes.

In Halifax conditions aren't expected to be significant.

"Elsa will move right up the Bay of Fundy and across to PEI this evening and tonight leaving us on its eastern flank," said NEWS 95.7 weather specialist John Wilson. "There will be some rain, there will be some wind. Probably 20 or 30 mm with a 60 km/h gust or two."

The Canadian Hurricane Centre indicates some areas of New Brunswick could see up to 100 mm of rain by Saturday morning.

The strongest winds are expected in southwestern New Brunswick and western Nova Scotia, where gusts of up to 80 km/h are possible.
