Emera Oval reopening pushed back

By Meghan Groff

The Halifax Regional Municipality has pushed back its reopening of the Emera Oval due to ice conditions.

The municipality now hopes to start the winter season on Wednesday, but that is weather permitting,

Proof of full vaccination and masks will be required for all skaters.

The maximum capacity for each scheduled skate is currently 230 people, which will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.

All are encouraged to wear a CSA-approved multi-impact hockey helmet on the ice, but this is mandatory for anyone aged 12 and under.

Haligonians are encouraged to bring their own equipment, but there are some skates and helmets available to borrow on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Red skating helpers are currently not available at this time.

You can check out the skating schedule online.
