Nova Scotia Health is advising of temporary closures and reduced hours at two hospital emergency departments early this week.

On Monday, March 22, the emergency departments at both the Eastern Shore Memorial and Musquodoboit Valley Memorial hospitals will be closed.

Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital's emergency department will close at 8 a.m. on Monday and reopen Tuesday evening.

Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital's emergency department is listed as being entirely closed Monday due to a physician shortage.

On Wednesday, March 24, Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital's emergency department will have reduced hours and be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“Anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911,” says a news release. “For non-urgent care, please call your family doctor or visit a walk-in clinic.”

People can also call 811, a 24/7 service run by experienced registered nurses, for general health advice and information.
