Shortly before five o'clock this morning, Halifax Fire and Emergency was called to the Metro Transit mechanic's garage in Dartmouth.

District Chief Lloyd Currie telling NEWS 95.7 a fire had broken out in a bus inside the building.

"No injuries, the employees did use fire extinguishers to keep the fire under control until we got here, and then our crews finished extinguishing it," explains Currie.

He says the bus is quite badly damaged, but the remainder of the building is in good shape and he adds there was nothing unusual about this particular fire, and they are ventilating the building from the smoke that filled it.

Halifax Transit, meantime, is tweeting that some buses from the Burnside facility will be late today due to the fire.
