Air quality statement for Nova Scotia ends (update)

Environment Canada expects forest fires out west to affect our province
With poor weather conditions on the way, crews are trying to keep people and homes protected in B.C. as several fires continue to burn out-of-control

UPDATE: Environment Canada ended the air quality statement for the Halifax area just after 9 a.m. Thursday. Smoke is no longer expected or has moved out of the area.

A special air quality statement has been issued saying smoke from forest fires out west is expected to affect our province.

Environment Canada expects the smoke to move into western mainland Nova Scotia Wednesday afternoon and stick around until Thursday afternoon.

"Until that time, smoke from the plume may descend to the ground and cause a local reduction in air quality," the weather advisory stated.
