Gas prices to rise this week with no signs of slowing down

By Dan Ahlstrand

Look for a significant increase in the price for gasoline in Nova Scotia this week.

That from managing partner and market analyst with Price Street Rory Johnston who is expecting to see the price at the pump rise at least five cents this week, and if world oil prices continue to rise, much more than that over the next few weeks.

Johnston says gasoline prices in our province could smash through the $1.80 mark over the next few weeks

“If that price for oil holds, we're looking at upwards in a 30 cent spike in the price (at the pumps),” Johnston said.

Earlier this week the provincial regulator used the interrupter clause to raise the price for diesel by 6.5 cents.

Across the border in New Brunswick, that province's regulator moving the maximum price for gasoline up by 4.4 cents to 163.3.
