Gasoline, diesel prices soar after big increase Friday

By Dan Ahlstrand

Gas prices are soaring on Friday morning in Halifax.

The provincial regulator has moved the minimum price for self serve regular up by 10.1 cents to a new record high of 166.6.

The news is much worse for those needing diesel, with that fuel up by a whopping 17.2 cents at midnight to 183.7, also a record.

This is the second increase in the price for diesel this week after the UARB used the interrupter clause mid-week to raise the diesel prices.  Just one week ago diesel prices were set at 160.0.

One year ago we were paying $1.24 for gasoline and $1.16 for diesel.
