A group is planning a protest outside the Department of Health on Friday.

The group's organizer is calling on the McNeil government and Health Minister Randy Delorey to declare health care is in a state of emergency.

Lesley Tilley created the group called “Nova Scotia Health Care in Crisis, Time to Protest” in response to the province's health care woes.

The group has over 2,000 members.

Tilley telling NEWS 95.7 the province needs to stop burying its head in the sand.

“We are in a state of emergency,” said Tilley. “It is no longer just a crisis.”

She goes on to say this calls for new leadership on the matter.

“I believe Stephen McNeil and Randy Delorey need to step down and let somebody else take control of this matter,” she said. “They have made this problem worse.”

The protest will start at 1 p.m. outside the Department of Health and Wellness.
