Half of Canadians plan to take advantage of Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals: poll

By Meghan Groff

It's Black Friday, and according to a new survey by Narrative Research, around half of Canadians plan to shop for deals both online and in stores.

The local polling company found 51 per cent will be looking for Black Friday/Cyber Monday bargains.

Of those, 33 per cent say they'll be spending less than last year, 43 per cent plan to spend about the same, while 14 per cent will spend more. The remaining 11 per cent can't compare to last year, because they didn't buy anything for Black Friday/Cyber Monday in 2021.

“The likelihood of participating in Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping decreases with age and increases with household income,” Narrative Research said in a news release.

“Of those who will be shopping Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, women are more likely to plan to spend less than last year, while men are more likely to say they plan to spend the same amount as last year. “

The results are courtesy of an online survey between November 8 and November 11 of 1,243 Canadians 18 years of age or older, conducted from the Logit Group's Canadian Omnibus,.

As a non-probability sample (a panel sample where residents have joined a panel to share their opinions), a margin of error has not been applied.
