Halifax police charge man for robbery at convenience store

A man has been charged in connection to robbery at a Dartmouth convenience store on Wednesday night.

Police say shortly before midnight, officers responded to a robbery at the Needs on Portland Street where a man came into the store, demanded cigarettes and money from the employees.

The suspect then fled on foot with cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Police then arrested him a short distance away without incident.

A 52-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face a charge of robbery.
