Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in relation to a number of thefts from motor vehicles that occurred last month in Halifax.

On February 27 at 7:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a theft from a motor vehicle.

A man broke into a vehicle that was parked in the area of Queen and Morris Streets and stole credit cards, which were then used at a nearby business.

Later that day, police responded to Norma Eddy Lane in Halifax in relation to thefts from motor vehicles where a man had broken into two vehicles and stolen property.

The description of the suspect matched that of the suspect in the earlier incident.

Approximately two hours later, officers were driving in the area of Cornwallis and Maitland Streets when they observed a man trying the door handles of vehicles.

Officers identified the man as the suspect from the thefts earlier in the day and from a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred on February 24.

Officers arrested the man without incident.

Christopher John Bartraw, 38, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court yesterday to face charges including theft, possession of stolen property, mischief, use of a stolen credit card and several other charges.

Bartraw was also charged with failing to appear in court in relation to an arrest warrant.
