Halifax students to hold climate strike on Friday afternoon

By Mark Hodgins

Students in Halifax will be joining young people around the world on Friday to demand action on climate change.

Friday's rally will begin at Victoria Park in downtown Halifax at noon. Protesters will march through the south end, stopping at Nova Scotia Power's main offices and the provincial legislature along the way.

In 2019, thousands of people took to the streets of Halifax for a similar strike. Halifax Regional Police estimated around 10,000 people were involved.

The international organization Fridays for Future estimates there are rallies happening in more than 1,400 cities and towns around the world as part of Friday's action.
