Not everyone is celebrating the summer-like weather conditions this fall, as one local business says cooler temperatures can't come soon enough.

James Farquar is a manager at Scotia Fuels, and he says the home oil heating company is a little slower than it usually is this time of year.

He says typically the business picks up after Thanksgiving but now several weeks after the holiday, that transition hasn't yet happened.

Farquar says people are still using some space heating to keep the dampness away but not as much.

"Volumes are down a little bit, and degree days are down a little bit, but it's hard to say whether that'll be made up in the latter part of winter and into the spring, or it won't," he said. "I don't know when it's going to come, and I don't know how long it will stay."

He says last October, Halifax was about 100 degree days ahead of what it is now.

Farquar says he doesn't remember a fall like this before but he is optimistic a chilly winter is on its way.
