UPDATE: The UARB invoked the interrupter clause to drop gas 10.2 cents to a new minimum price of 163.1 for regular self-serve.

Diesel is also down. That fuel now costs 171.5 a litre, a drop of 7.9 cents from yesterday.

The price of gas and diesel will be changing again at midnight Friday into Saturday.

The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board will be invoking the interrupter clause.

"This change is necessary due to significant shifts in the market prices of gasoline and diesel oil," the UARB said in a news release.

The board did not indicate if the new prices would be higher or lower.

Both fuels saw a big drop in the regular weekly adjustment.

Nova Scotians woke up Friday to a new minimum of 173.3 for regular self-serve, down nine cents.

Diesel prices fell 6.1 cents to 179.4.
