A man has been charged after a single vehicle crash shut down Highway 14 in Martock Friday.

RCMP say the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was ejected during the collision just before 1 p.m. He's been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Mounties say their preliminary investigation indicates the 39-year-old from Windsor didn't have permission to drive the vehicle, and that he was talking on a cell phone when the car crashed.

He has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and using a handheld electronic device while operating a motor vehicle.

The man will be in Windsor Provincial Court at a later date and police say the highway has reopened.
