Man dies in hospital after downtown Halifax assault (update)

Police were called after a report of a disturbance involving a number of people

Halifax Regional Police say a man taken to hospital early Saturday morning has died of his injuries.

Officers arrived on the scene in the 1700 block of Brunswick Street around 1:15 a.m. after a report of what police are calling a disturbance involving several people.

Upon arrival police found an unresponsive man on the sidewalk just east of Brunswick on Prince Street. The 31-year-old was rushed from the scene by ambulance to the QE2, where he later died.

Police say they have taken one man into custody in relation to the incident and are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.
