Man suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck in crosswalk (update)

A man was rushed to hospital after being hit while crossing Young St.

The collision happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of Young St. and Kempt Rd.

UPDATE: The 75-year-old man has died from his injuries.

A pedestrian has suffered life-threatening injuries after a driver struck him in a crosswalk, Halifax Regional Police say. 

The collision happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of Young St. and Kempt Rd. in the north end. 

Police say the man was crossing Young St. in a crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup truck. 

The man has been taken to hospital, while the driver of the truck has been ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. 

Traffic was blocked in all directions at Young and Kempt earlier this morning, but it has since reopened.
