Mooseheads fall to Cataractes 3-2 in shootout

By Chris Halef

SHAWINIGAN, QC. – The Halifax Mooseheads came up short on Wednesday night, as they fell 3-2 in a shootout loss to the Shawinigan Cataractes at Centre Gervais Auto.

The Cataractes out shot the Mooseheads 12-7 in the opening period, with Simon Benoit giving Shawinigan 1-0 lead at the 13:06 mark.

Jeremy Martin would extend that lead early in the second, but Halifax bounced back, with Filip Zadina and Arnaud Durandeau tying things up at 2-2 heading into the third period.

Neither team managed to get it between the pipes in the third, which eventually led to a scoreless overtime period. The Cataractes eventually pulled it off in the shootout, snapping the Herd's two game win streak and winning 3-2.

The Mooseheads continue their road trip on Friday, when they take on the Val-d'Or Foreurs.
