Nova Scotia Health is advising people that the Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital's emergency department will have reduced hours this week.

The emergency department will be closed on Monday, March 15. It will reopen on Tuesday, March 16 with reduced hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The reduced hours are due to a physician shortage.

The emergency department was also closed this past Friday and Saturday.

"Anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911," says a news release. "For non-urgent care, please call your family doctor or visit a walk-in clinic."

People can also call 811, a 24/7 service run by experienced registered nurses, for general health advice and information.

The Mental Health Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.
