As part of work to improve access to blood collection, Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) is opening a new clinic at the Community Wellness Centre at 16 Dentith Road in Spryfield. It officially opens up Tuesday.

As of Jan. 23, Spryfield Blood Collection will be open:
Tuesdays: 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Fridays: 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Saturdays: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“We are pleased to be able to make blood collection service more accessible to residents of Spryfield and surrounding communities as part of our commitment to improve blood collection services in Nova Scotia,” said Shauna Thompson, senior director of pathology and laboratory medicine for NSHA.

“By locating blood collection within the existing wellness centre, our aim is to provide a convenient, accessible option for residents needing to access this important service close to home.”

MLA Brendan Maguire, who serves Halifax Atlantic, said, “The Spryfield Blood Collection Clinic is part of government’s commitment to bring health services to our communities. This clinic will provide a valuable service to thousands of people who would have otherwise been challenged to access medical services outside our community.”

The Community Wellness Centre also houses Dalhousie Family Medicine, Diabetes Management Centre, Mental Health and Addictions, and the Chebucto Community Health Team.
