New EHS LifeFlight helicopters now in operation

Two new EHS LifeFlight helicopters are now in service in Nova Scotia and both will be able to land on hospital helipads.
For the past few years, the medical choppers were unable to airlift patients to hospital rooftops because of rule changes introduced by Transport Canada.
Since then, they've had to go to Point Pleasant Park.
Health minister Randy Delorey says the new Sikorsky S-76 C+ aircraft will perform better, with faster response times.
“They're more powerful engines,” he explained. “They can operate in more intense weather conditions, they have further distance, they can go a little bit faster.”
Delorey says EHS LifeFlight responds to between 700 and 800 calls a year, providing critical care to people all over the Maritimes.
The new helicopters went into service on December 15th.
