NHL’s newest team makes Cow Bay, N.S. player its first-ever signing

By Mark Hodgins

A Nova Scotian has become the first player to sign with the NHL's newest team.

The Seattle Kraken announced on Wednesday the club had inked a three-year, entry-level deal with 21-year-old Luke Henman of Cow Bay.

Henman is the captain of the QMJHL's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, and was drafted in 2018 by the Carolina Hurricanes but did not sign with that team.

“I'm extremely excited and I can't wait to get to work,” Henman told NHL.com.

The centre has scored 214 points in 225 regular season QMJHL games.

He'll be in training camp for the Kraken when the team becomes the NHL's 32nd club starting next season.
