The union representing teachers in this province could have a new leader by the end of the day.
Voting for the Nova Scotia Teachers Union's next president is taking place Wednesday.
Seven candidates are in the running for the position: Michael Cosgrove, Peter Day, Shawn Hannifen, Mike Jamieson, Ryan Lutes, Natalie MacIsaac and Colleen Scott.
Current president Paul Wozney did not reoffer.
The union says 9,500 members are eligible to participate in the electronic vote.
Polls are scheduled to close at 8 p.m.
A candidate must get the majority of votes to be elected. If a run-off vote is necessary, that will take place next Thursday.
The next president's two-year term will start on August 1.
