Police investigate Spryfield assault and robbery

Halifax Regional Police is investigating after a 55-year-old man was assaulted and robbed Friday night.

Officers spoke with the victim who reported at 11:30 p.m. he was walking along the pathway near Forbes Street and Lynette Road when two men walked toward him. 

He says he spoke briefly with one of the men, after recognizing him from the area. 

But shortly after walking away, the victim says he was knocked to the ground and assaulted by both males who kicked him in the torso.

Shortly after the suspects fled, the victim realized he was missing his cell phone, cigarettes and a small amount of cash that he had in his jacket pocket. 

Officials say the victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects are described as a male, about 6'1" tall, wearing a red coat and blue jeans and a white male, about 5'9".
