Police investigating two robberies in Halifax

Halifax Regional Police are investigating two robberies that occurred in Halifax last night.

Police say at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a call about a robbery that had occurred at the Sobeys grocery store located at 2651 Windsor Street in Halifax.

They say a man entered the smoke shop, threatened that he had a weapon and demanded money and cigarettes before fleeeing the store on foot after collecting the money.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’ 2” tall, with a medium build and wearing a black mask. 

The suspect was also wearing a grey hoodie, with the hood up and carrying a black back pack and black handbag.

Just over two hours later, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a call for a robbery that just occurred at Chebucto Grocery located at 6330 Chebucto Road.

They say a man entered the store and demanded money, cigarettes and lottery tickets and threatened that he had a weapon.   

The man then fled the store on foot after collecting the money and lottery tickets.

The suspect, a white male, was wearing a white face mask, black jacket, black pants, dark sneakers and black toque and was carrying a green re-usable bag.

No member of the public or staff were injured during these incidents. 

Anyone with information or video from the area is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
