Premier not pleased with rescheduled hockey game ahead of restrictions

It seems that a decision to move up a scheduled Halifax Mooseheads game from Friday to Thursday isn't sitting well with the premier of Nova Scotia.

The Mooseheads saying yesterday that due to the recent restrictions announced by the Nova Scotia government, the Mooseheads game on Friday versus Acadie-Bathurst has been moved to Thursday.

The team also announcing that a planned teddy bear toss that was set to go on Friday would also be moved to Thursday night.

Shortly after the announcement, the office of the premier released a statement to the media that stated “the new restrictions regarding gathering limits come into effect on Friday at 9 a.m.”

It went on to say, “the time between the announcement and the implementation was to give businesses, organizations and individuals time to prepare … not to give organizations an opportunity to reschedule events and get in front of the changes.”

The statement also said that public health would be monitoring the situation and ” if there is a need to change the timing, it will.”

The Mooseheads say tonight's scheduled game against Charlottetown will go ahead as planned. That game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and you can hear it live on CityNews 95.7.
