Public schools in HRM to stay closed Tuesday

There will be no classes again Tuesday for Halifax Regional Centre for Education students, along with Conseil scolaire acadien provincial schools in the metro group.

HRCE says its operations team is still working to ensure schools are ready to safely welcome back students and staff.

“A number of schools are still awaiting power restoration, as are two of the three transportation service provider dispatch offices,” it said on its website. “We expect most schools and offices will be able to reopen safely on Wednesday. “

School is also off tomorrow for Strait Regional Centre for Education, Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education and CSAP's northern group.

Those is Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education, as well as CSAP's Centre scolaire etoile de l'Acadie have the rest of the week off.

The Department of Education says this is due to ongoing power outages and unsafe road conditions following Fiona.

School officials in Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education, South Shore Regional Centre for Education, Tri-County Regional Centre for Education and CSAP schools in its south group will continue to update families and staff about cancellations at individual schools.
