Police have made an arrest and laid charges in relation to two recent incidents of cash registers being stolen from Halifax convenience stores.

The most recent robbery happened Friday night.

Officials say at 8:26 p.m. the man walked into Jubilee Food Shop on Jubilee Road, removed the cash register from the counter and then left the store.

Police say he threw the register in the rear seat of a black Jeep YP soft top that was being driven by another male. They say it drove toward Quinpool road.

A similar incident happened at about 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, when a man took the cash register from Daily Sweets on Oxford Street.

The amount of money in the registers is not being released by police.

Saturday afternoon Halifax Regional Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Victoria Road in Dartmouth where a 32-year-old man was arrested.

Police say he was released yesterday evening and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date for charges of theft in relation to each incident.
