Snow, rain and wind in the forecast for Halifax on Tuesday

The Province of Nova Scotia is now blanketed with special weather statements as a messy mix is expected to impact the region starting Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada saying snow is expected to begin Tuesday morning before changing to rain over mainland Nova Scotia by lunch time.

Snow will continue northern portions of the province, including Cape Breton Island.

Halifax will likely experience a mix of snow, rain and wind with this system; between 5-15 cm of snow is possible with upwards of 20-40 mm of rain also forecasted.

Wind gusts of 60 to 80 km/h also in the forecast.

The national forecaster is predicting upwards of 25 mm of rain or more for parts of the mainland, while 15 cm of snow is expected for Cape Breton.
