Some popular Musquodoboit Harbour hiking trails reopen

By Meghan Groff

A few popular hiking trails along the Musquodoboit Trailway have reopened following Hurricane Fiona.

According to a post on the Musquodoboit Trailways Association's Facebook page, people can now go on the Admiral Lake Loop — which includes Skull Rock, Eunice Lake and Jessie's Diner — the Bayer Lake Loop and the Gibraltar Rock Loop.

North Granite Ridge and the South Granite Ridge were hit hard by the storm and remain unsafe. They could be closed until spring, depending on how much cleanup work can be done during the winter months.

“Please stay off those two trails as fallen trees have ripped massive sections out of the trail, making navigation an exercise in bushwacking and tree climbing,” the post said. “There is no way to navigate the trails and still adhere to Leave No Trace.”

Hikers who see a problem on the reopened trails, like fallen trees or branches due to wind/rain/snow, can report it here.
