Special weather statement, rainfall warnings issued across Nova Scotia

By Stephen Wentzell

After last week's rainstorm that caused an estimated $7 million in damage, more rain is on the way for Nova Scotians.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for most of Mainland Nova Scotia, including Halifax Metro and Halifax County West.

20 to 40 milimetres of rain is anticipated, with the potential for higher amounts near coastal areas.

CityNews Weather Specialist John Wilson is warning of the potential of freezing rain over parts of Central Nova Scotia early this morning, before changing to rain as temperatures increase.

Rain is expected to taper off early on Tuesday.
