Environment Canada says a large an powerful storm will stall well south of Nova Scotia Friday.

However the large low pressure system is forecast to bring strong northeasterly winds to the South Shore and up to Halifax County.

Large waves and pounding surf are expected, along with higher than normal water levels at high tide on Friday and Saturday.

The track at this point has the storm remaining off shore, but Environment Canada says a slight shift north could bring heavy rainfall to the South Shore.

Shelburne and Queens counties are also under a wind warning. Gusts of up to 100 km/hr are expected in that part of the province throughout Friday night and northeasterly wind gusts of up to 90 km/hr could persist into Saturday.
