Team Canada to open World Junior Hockey Championships in Halifax

The 20 preliminary-round games will be split between Halifax and Moncton, starting on December 26

Team Canada will play it's first game at this year's World Junior Hockey Championship on Boxing Day against Czechia.

The  International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) released the schedule for the the tournament, to be played in Halifax and Moncton between December 26 and January 5 yesterday.

Canada is in Group "A" with Czechia, Sweden, Germany and Austria and will play their round robin games at the Scotiabank Centre.

Group "B" will play at the Avenir Centre in Moncton and features the US, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Lativa.

The 20 preliminary-round games will be split between the two host cities.

The playoffs begin on January 2 with the medal round games all taking place at Scotiabank Centre.
