Terence Bay man charged with sexual assault

By CityNews Halifax Staff

A Terence Bay man has been charged with sexual assault after breaking into a home on March 7.

At roughly 6 a.m., RCMP say officers responded to a 911 call on Harrie Drive in Terence Bay from a woman who said she had fled her home after a man she knew had broken in and sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping.

Mounties responded immediately and found the 58-year-old suspect at a nearby home, where he was arrested.

RCMP officers learned from the victim that she had been sleeping when she awoke to the man standing beside her bed and touching her.

The woman locked herself in a bathroom, which the man eventually broke into before she could flee her home and call 911.

Ian Edward Craig Warner, 58, has been charged with sexual assault, break and enter and mischief.

Warner was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on March 8.
