Winter will make a re-appearance in the Halifax-area.

According to Environment Canada's 24-hour forecast, the snow should start late Wednesday or early Thursday.

A special weather statement for Halifax updated Wednesday afternoon says about 5 to 10 centimetres of snow will fall before changing to rain in the central and western parts of the province.

Snow is expected to hang on longer over the easternmost sections of Nova Scotia.

A second low pressure system will bring rain on Friday, which is expected to change over to snow Friday night and into Saturday.

Environment Canada says “significant snowfall amounts are possible,” especially in eastern Nova Scotia, which could see over 15 centimetres.
