Barron brothers on the move after NHL trade deadline

By Mark Hodgins

Monday was a busy NHL trade deadline day for the Barron family of Halifax.

Former Halifax Mooseheads defenceman Justin Barron is heading from the Colorado Avalanche to the Montreal Canadiens.

The 20-year-old played four seasons for the Mooseheads. He has suited up in two NHL games with Colorado and has put up 20 points in 43 games this season for the AHL's Colorado Eagles.

Justin wasn't the only Barron brother on the move yesterday.

His older brother, Morgan, is also heading north of the border. The 23-year-old centre was traded to the Winnipeg Jets as part of a deal sending forward Andrew Copp back to the New York Rangers.

Morgan Barron has played 18 games in the NHL so far in his career, putting up one goal and one assist. He's spent most of this season with the Rangers' AHL team in Hartford where he has scored 15 points in 25 games.
