Detroit Red Wings select Mooseheads forward Filip Zadina 6th overall in NHL Draft

By Chris Halef

Halifax Mooseheads forward Filip Zadina is headed to the Detroit Red Wings after being selected sixth overall in the first round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft Friday night.

Zadina was originally projected to possibly go as high as third overall, but fell a few spots before being picked up by Detroit.

The 18-year-old put up 44 goals and 38 assists in 57 games with the Herd last season.

Zadina's teammates Jared McIsaac and Benoit Olivier-Groulx didn't get the call in the first round, but some experts are projecting they may get picked up in the second.
