Mooseheads defeat Foreurs 6-2 in first home win of the season

HALIFAX – The Halifax Mooseheads won their first home game of the regular season, defeating the Val-d'Or Foreurs 6-2 on Saturday night.

The Foreurs had a good start with Julien Tessier netting a power play goal to make it 1-0 heading into the second period.

Walter Flower and Jordan Maher each responded for the Herd, scoring a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead. Ivan Kozlov scored another late period goal for the Foreurs to tie it up at 2-2 after 40 minutes.

Flower's second tally of the evening along with Samuel Asselin's power play goal gave the Mooseheads a 4-2 lead.

Benoit Olivier-Groulx added two more to make it a 6-2 final.

On Sunday, the Mooseheads welcome the Moncton Wildcats to the Scotiabank Centre.
