Mooseheads pick up 5-4 shootout win against Sea Dogs

HALIFAX – The Halifax Mooseheads picked up a 5-4 shootout win against the Saint John Sea Dogs Friday night.

Saint John struck first with Benjamin Gagne tally but Arnaud Durandeau responded late in the period to make it 1-1.

Benoit Olivier-Groulx gave the Mooseheads their first lead while Durandeau scored his second of the evening to make it 3-1 Halifax. But William Poirier and Nicholas Deakin-Poot scored two quick goals for Saint John to tie it up at 3-3.

Keith Getson gave the Herd a 4-3 lead midway through the third period but Brady Burns responded to force overtime.

Neither team managed to score, leading to a shootout where Halifax secured a 5-4 victory.

The Mooseheads will play their final game of the regular season on Saturday when they host the Charlottetown Islanders.
