N.S. man charged with impaired driving after vehicle smashes into Halifax home

HALIFAX — A 20-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after a car struck a house in a Halifax suburb and a suspect fled the scene late Friday. Local police said investigators received a call at around 10 p.m.

HALIFAX — A 20-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after a car struck a house in a Halifax suburb and a suspect fled the scene late Friday.

Local police said investigators received a call at around 10 p.m. about a vehicle smashing into a home on Windstone Close in Bedford.

Police say the car also almost struck a pedestrian as it departed, but there were no injuries.

Officers followed marks in the road left by the vehicle when it drove away and saw that one of the tires was flat.

The vehicle was found a short distance away from the registered owner's residence, and the driver was found at his residence.

The man is facing charges of impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over .08, leaving the scene of an accident and property damage.
