Yarmouth teen charged with assault, attempted murder in Church Point stabbing

HALIFAX — A 17-year-old from Yarmouth is facing charges after a teenager was stabbed over the weekend at a gathering at Church Point, N.S.

Meteghan RCMP responded to a call on Sunday involving a 17-year-old male who had been stabbed in the chest after allegedly getting into an argument with the suspect at the party.

Several witnesses provided statements for the ongoing investigation.

The 17-year-old suspect was scheduled to appear in provincial court Monday on charges of attempted murder, assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Local police were assisted by the RCMP’s forensic identification services and its crime enforcement unit.

The victim was treated for his injuries and has been released from hospital.
