1939 – 2022
It is with sadness that the family of Joseph Francis Amirault (Frank) announce his passing at home on January 11, 2022.
Frank was born on March 27, 1939 in Yarmouth, N.S. He was the oldest son of the late James O’Neil (Buff) Amirault and Mary Florence (Sissy) Amirault (Francis).
Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Johnson); his children, Karen Davis (Greg) of Dartmouth, N.S., Sharon Amirault (Dave Duffy) of Quispamsis, N.B.; adored grandchildren, Mallory (Matt) of PEI, and Katelyn (Cameron) of N.B.; his sister, Patricia Trefry (Jim) of Chebogue Point N.S.; and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Larry.
Frank was employed by Environment Canada in Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia and loved watching and predicting the weather. Anyone who was fortunate to have met Frank would describe him as kind, gentle, loving, and giving. He would help anyone (human or animal) at any time. All living creatures were important to him, and worth saving. He had a wonderful sense of humour, and a great love of life. Frank was a wonderful piano player (could play anything by ear), a great athlete, especially in his younger years, and an engaging storyteller. He enjoyed bowling and golf in his retirement, and spending time with his family. Sharing a good meal with extended family, going on his daily walks, doing the crossword in ink, or enjoying a quiet evening with Carol made him happy. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Due to Covid there will be no visitation at this time. A family service will be held at a later date.
If you wish, you can make a donation to whatever charity is important to you. Frank would love that.
Rest easy Frank, you lived a great life.
“A gentleman is one who puts more into the world than he takes out”. - G.B. Shaw. Frank, you were truly a gentleman.
