It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of Mike Gillis at home on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Michael and Darlene (Wells) Gillis.
Mike was an entertainer, a comedian at Daniel’s, he was a gifted artist and a very talented writer. He was a kind and gentle person who will be missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his loving parents, Mick and Darlene Gillis; brother, Dave; sisters, Kristin and Heather; nieces and nephews, Breagh, Michaela, Mitchell and Liam, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike was predeceased by his grandparents, Willena and John Wells and Dan and Mary Ann Gillis; uncle Jack Wells, aunts Margaret O'Neil and Catherine MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Mike will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 12-2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Melvin Wheaton officiating with all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
