$12,500 painting stolen from downtown Halifax gallery

A $12,500 painting was stolen from a downtown Halifax gallery in September.

The theft occurred on Sept. 29 from a gallery on Doyle Street, but Halifax Regional Police is releasing photos of the painting and suspect today.

The suspect is described as a man with dark hair and a receding hairline.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue tracksuit in the form of a hoodie and sweatpants along with black and white sneakers.

He was also wearing what appears to be a black mask.

The painting is a small 8″ x 10″ oil painting by Canadian painter Marc Aurele de Foy Suzor-Coté. It was created sometime between the late 1800s to the early 1900s and it's framed in a gold gilded frame.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or video from the area to call 902-490-5020.
