56-year-old dies in head-on collision in Pinehurst

Lunenburg District RCMP say a head-on collision has claimed the life of one and sent three others to hospital yesterday. 
 
On Sept. 29, 2022, at around 3:40 p.m., RCMP and first responders received reports of a head-on collision between a sedan and SUV on Highway 10 in Pinehurst. 
 
While en route to the incident, RCMP say officers learned the sedan was on fire in the roadway. 
 
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a 56-year-old female passenger deceased inside the SUV. 
 
The SUV driver, a 67-year-old male, and a 4-year-old female passenger were seriously injured and transported to hospital. 
 
The driver of the sedan, a 77-year-old female, escaped the vehicle fire with moderate injuries and was also transported to hospital. 
 
Highway 10 was closed for several hours yesterday but has now reopened. 
 
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
