Lunenburg District RCMP say they have arrested the pilot of a boat who reportedly struck several vessels at the Chester Yacht Club yesterday.

On Sept. 1, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., RCMP responded to the reports after witnesses claimed they saw a vessel collide and damage several boats as it left the harbour.

The vessel in question fled the scene of the collision, police say.

After witnesses described the boat, RCMP officers located the man later that evening at a home in Marriotts Cove.

The 46-year-old man was safely arrested and taken to the Bridgewater Detachment where he was held in custody overnight.

RCMP say the man was released from custody this morning and is facing charges of Dangerous Operation of a Vessel and three counts of Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
